Worship FAQs
Below are answers to common questions about worship. However, some of your questions may not be answered below. Please, if you have remaining concerns or questions, feel free to contact the Pastor. He is glad to answer any questions you might have.
What is worship like?
Our worship follows our liturgy from our hymnals. All of our hymns and responses come out of here. You can participate or simply follow along.
Where to Sit?
Feel free to sit wherever you'd like, whether the front or the back. If you need assistance an usher will help you.
Will you make me stand up and say something?
No. We will not make you stand up and introduce yourself or say something. We will not pressure you to make a commitment by the end of service or on your way out the door. You can expect to participate (or observe) worship and leave having heard a Christ-centered message. (If you are interested in learning more about our congregation, you may contact our Pastor anytime during the week).
What to Wear?
You'll notice some wear suits and ties; others wear jeans and shirts. Come as you are. We aren't worried about what you're wearing.
What about the Kids?
Kids of all ages are welcome at Faith. We encourage kids and their parents to grow in faith together as they hear God's word and sing his praise. If the little ones get restless (as they often do) we have ample room for them to play located in the back of the church.
What is the Pastor Wearing?
The Pastor wears a robe, called an "alb," which is designed to cover the Pastor’s clothing. This takes the focus off of the Pastor (so that you may not be distracted by a colorful tie or unnoticed stain on his shirt).... It also reminds worshipers that he is a representative of God. The white alb robe also reminds us of the robe of righteousness that Christ has wrapped around us.
The colored cloth over his shoulders is called a "stole." It is a historical symbol of the Pastoral ministry and a reminder to the Pastor and the congregation of the yoke of humble service that God has placed upon his shoulders. The color of the stole changes with each season of the church year.
What about the offering?
God gives us the opportunity to give back to him so that we may maintain our ministry. The Bible teaches us: "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver" (2 Corinthians 9:7). Worshipers are not forced or compelled to give an offering. Instead, those who wish to give an offering are welcome to do so.
