Welcome! (and thank you for visiting our website...)
Anytime we do something new for the first time, we may feel a bit awkward or uncomfortable or nervous. We do not know what to expect. We do not want to embarrass ourselves. We do not know if "it" is really worth our time. Uncertainty can prevent us from doing something beneficial.
Maybe you have not stepped into a church for years. Maybe you are unsure what to expect in worship (and do not want to do something "wrong"). Maybe you simply have never been in a church. That is why we would like to share with you what you can expect at Faith Lutheran. We pray that this will help you as you consider coming to worship with us.
Our purpose & mission
"By the grace God has given me, I laid a foundation as an expert builder, and someone else is building on it. But each one should be careful how he builds. For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ" (1 Corinthians 3:10-11).
Built on Christ...
Our Purpose is simple: Preach Jesus Christ.
God, in the Bible, speaks a clear, sure message as to the only way people stand acceptable before him: Through Jesus. Jesus enters our world to rescue humanity from the destructive consequences of self-serving behavior. His perfect life, innocent death, and triumphant resurrection brings us into a living relationship with God. Jesus is the foundation of faith. Hope for eternal rests on him alone. Christians are therefore Built on Christ.

Build on Christ...
Our mission is simple: Grow in Jesus Christ.
Christians treasure God's forgiving love. God's love never changes, but our lives do. As we encounter new challenges, new troubles, and new dilemmas, we return to God's never-changing love. As we do, we grow in recognizing and understanding how God is still with us, delivers us, and comforts us. Using the Word and the sacraments (things-- baptism and Holy Communion-- which Jesus himself commanded us to use) our faith in Jesus grows. We are Building on Christ, the unchanging foundation of our faith.

What to expect the first time here...
- Our worship and sermon emphasize the forgiving love of God. Only God makes us ready for life with him! Our purpose is to give you an opportunity to reflect on how the love of God has touched your life.
- As you enter our church building, you will receive a warm greeting and a person to answer any questions you have.
- An usher will hand you a bulletin. It outlines the service and offers helpful advice so that you can participate (if you wish).
- You may enter the worship space whenever you wish. Pick any seat!
- We sing hymns out of a hymnal and use a series of responses from the front of the hymnal. If you wish, you do not have to sing or speak. Just follow along! If you are unsure of what to do, just ask-- and we will help!
- The Pastor guides worship so that everyone is able to follow along. (Since he is leading worship, it means that you do not have to introduce yourself, say something, or commit yourself to something).
- After service has ended, an usher assists with dismissal. Stay and talk for as long -- or little-- as you like!
